Turkey Pot Pie at Punch Bowl Social

PBS-CPP-2

My photography has been described as light and ethereal.  I definitely tend to shoot brighter, high key, full saturation photos.  There fore I have been working on some darker, more moodier images.  Very difficult to light properly so that you can see the food.  This photo was taken in the dining room at Punch Bowl Social here in Denver using only natural light and a small reflector.  I think I lucked out on the time of day I went in to shoot, this could very easily have gotten much brighter if I had been there later in the afternoon.  This dish is the Turkey Pot Pie I shot for Zagat back in January.

Having given you that exact feedback, I am really pleased to see you trying out a darker, moodier colour palette – and I think it works well for you. That light touch / light eye that you naturally posses, turns a deft hand at creating moodiness without plunging the entire composition into utter darkness. ( which is easily done ) Texture is retained. I’m looking forward to hopefully including one of these darker shoots as a our cover shot for Autumn/Winter 2014.
